Mail Shield

Online Armor’s Mail Shield will automatically detect tricks used to perpetuate email scams, called Phishing. Phishing emails are made to look like they come from your bank or financial institution, usually “warning” you of some kind of security violation, asking you to click a link and log in to verify your identity, change your password, or similar. These emails also typically warn you that not doing so will result in your account being locked down.

Phishing emails use certain tricks to make the email and the links in the email look legitimate. They make you think that when you click the link that you will be taken to your bank’s website, but instead take you to a fraudulent website that looks just like your bank’s. If you were to try to log in then your banking login information would be recorded by the fraudulent website so the scammer can log in to your bank account.

Online Armor will detect these tricks and either pop-up to ask you if you want to keep or block the email, or if it can positively identify the email as a scam then it will block it automatically.

The Mail Shield works automatically; there are no options to configure. You can disable the Mail Shield from the Online Armor Control Panel under General.

Note: This feature is not available in Online Armor Free.
